Our mission at Spicepepper Garden is to serve fresh, authentic, flavorful and unique Mandarin-Sichuan-Japanese dishes in a welcoming and family-like atmosphere.

Meet the Owner

Meet Ming! Every since Ming was a child, he has always had a fascination for two things, cars and food. Before he immigrated to the United States, Ming enjoyed his time repairing cars and loved to help his mother and grandmother prep and cook. When he immigrated to the United States in the late 1990s, Ming wanted to explore his opportunities a bit more and decided that he wanted to pursue a career in the restaurant industry. He began working as a Dishwasher/Kitchen Porter. Over the next 20 years, he worked at a variety of different restaurants in roles such as waiter, busboy, server, hostess, cook, sushi chef, chef, general manager and more. However, over the course of those 20 years, Ming knew that one day he wanted to run his own restaurant.

In 2013, Ming finally got the opportunity to take over Spicepepper Garden with the help and guide of Mr. An, the former owner. Every since then, Ming and his staff have worked on new dishes and training to help enhance customer experiences at Spicepepper Garden. In fact, Ming has taken on a more hands on approach in improving all areas of the restaurant by involving himself in any area of the restaurant from hostess to waiting tables to even sushi chef. However, one major contribution he has made since he took over Spicepepper Garden is the value of family. One of the main reasons why Ming decided to go into the restaurant industry is because food has always had a special connection to him and his family. The words, " I love you." never came out of his parents and grandparents mouths but, often times, at the dinner table, the words "Did you eat yet?", "Eat some more." and "Are you full yet?" did. This is because those were the ways his parents expressed the words "I love you.", through making sure that he was well-fed. Spicepepper Garden is not just a restaurant to Ming, it is a place for families and friends to go to express how much they love each other through family style dishes and a familial and welcoming atmosphere.
